We are a band of happy artists that love creating performances that impact both our artists and patrons. We love to entertain and share in telling a good story. Our talented technicians, designers, directors, choreographers, dancers and actors all unite with the shared goal of capturing lightning in a bottle which compels us to produce great theatre. We are passionate about what we do and have a lot of fun doing it.

Administration

ADVISORY Board Members: In addition to the board of directors, RTE has an advisory board. This advisory board is made up of community leaders, people passionate about theatre and the arts and people who have a great deal of influence within their communities. They bring experience, expertise passion, contacts and a strong desire to see and help RTE succeed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Strategic: Participate in the development of overall goals and objectives for RTE and review the programs. May provide input into the annual performance review of artistic director. Available to advise as necessary
  2. Fundraising: With all other Board members, be responsible for seeing that funds are raised to support the programs of RTE, including participating in fundraising events, etc.
  3. Public Relations: Aid in the growth of RTE membership and community support. Plan for the expansion of community awareness and provide feedback on community opinions

Personal Commitment :

  • Use personal influence within network and/or community to help achieve RTE goals/vision
  • Participate in all events sponsored by RTE
  • Attend all shows (preferably on opening night in order to attend the opening night receptions)
  • Attend additional functions, as they come up

Fundraising Commitment : Maximum participation in soliciting community gifts in the following areas: annual fund, special events, major gifts, planned giving and capital campaign

Development Commitment : To assist in identifying and recruiting potential donors and volunteers by making contacts (either personal, by phone or written)

Financial Commitment : Each Advisory Board member is encouraged to make or get an annual gift of at least $500

Attendance Commitment : Must attend at least 2 board meetings—one at the beginning of the season and one at the end of the season. May attend as many meetings as desired.

ASSOCIATE MANAGING DIRECTOR: The Associate Managing Director is a vital member of the RTE staff with the primary goal of ensuring the integrity of the company through maintaining the stability of infrastructure. Working with the Managing Director, you will be responsible for the administration of the business aspects of RTE. To this end, your responsibilities will include:

  • Negotiating contracts related to production rights, rental agreements, and staffing.
  • Developing and managing a marketing and public relations program to maximize attendance and expand our audience.
  • Coordinating press releases to be sent to all appropriate local media outlets.
  • Forging and maintaining relationships with entertainment writers and editors in a position to offer reviews and feature coverage of RTE.
  • Fielding requests for information from press, and coordinating interviews with artistic director, directors, and cast, as needed.
  • Developing production budgets with the Executive Staff.
  • Coordinating and supervising staff and volunteers.
  • Representing RTE at industry functions and in the community.

You must be well organized, punctual, have good communication skills and be good at leading others. Previous experience in more than one area of arts administration, including management, booking, marketing, development, or grant writing is recommended, but not a must. You should be self-motivated, innovative, and enjoy working in a creative, team environment. You should possess the ability to work with a wide variety people and be able to adapt to an ever changing environment. This is a great opportunity to gain practical experience in theatre administration.

PUBLIC RELATIONS MANAGER: The primary goal of the RTE Public Relations Manager is to expand the audience of the company. To this end, your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating press releases to be sent and/or faxed to all appropriate local outlets, especially print and online media (radio and TV and other outlets may also be explored).
  • Forging and maintaining relationships with entertainment writers and editors in a position to offer reviews and feature coverage of RTE.
  • Inviting press to "press nights" and gala functions.
  • Fielding requests for information from press, and coordinate interviews with artistic director, directors, and cast, as needed.
  • Coordinating with the RTE Webmaster to post all publicity materials on the website.
  • Supervising photo shoots for all RTE productions and sending photos out for publication or using them in-house for poster designs and the website.
  • Submitting a budget, work within it, and keep records and receipts of expenses.

Development

No positions available at this time. GRANTS MANAGER: The Grant Manager's primary goal is to raise the funds necessary for RTE to continue to grow and produce unique, quality productions. To this end, your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying, researching and evaluating prospective new funding sources.
  • Developing and maintaining funding contacts with corporations, foundations, public agencies, and individuals.
  • Gathering information and background research for proposals.
  • Writing and editing grant proposals or components of grant proposals.
  • Providing technical assistance to other proposal writers as appropriate.
  • Maintaining and/or developing high-quality proposal attachments, such as organizational budgets, fact sheets, performance videos, and other materials.
  • Tracking deadlines of all grants and ensuring that they are delivered in a timely manner.
  • Working with the Development Director to ensure a sound grants development process that adheres to RTE's fundraising strategy.

This position reports to the Artistic Director.

Acting

We are getting ready to hold auditions for the final two shows of our 2009/2010 season: Neil LaBute's THE SHAPE OF THINGS and the World Premiere of RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME by Lia Romeo.

We will be holding RTE Auditions on Saturday, August 29th and callbacks on the 30th.

For THE SHAPE OF THINGS, we are seeking 2 women and 2 men from 22-30.
Rehearsals: 9/21/09 - 11/5/09
Performances: 11/6/09 - 11/21/09

For RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME, we are seeking 3 women (25-60) and 2 men (25-50)
Rehearsals: 11/30/09 - 1/21/10
Performances: 1/22/10 - 2/6/10

Please prepare one 1 minute contemporary comedic and 1 minute contemporary dramatic monologues. Monologues not to exceed 2 minutes. Please bring headshot and resume. Stipend. Non-AEA. Non-traditional casting. All are encouraged to audition.

PROP DESIGNERS: The Prop Designer is responsible for the procurement and/or construction of props and set dressing for each production, as well as organizing and managing the prop stock.

The ideal candidate must have a solid understanding of building of properties for production use. This understanding includes wood and metal construction, furniture construction, craftwork and painting. Knowledge of period styles is a plus, but not required. The candidate must have strong communication and record-keeping skills. Candidates should be self-motivated, innovative, and enjoy working in a creative environment. Candidates should possess the ability to work with a wide variety people and be able to adapt to an ever changing environment.

Technical

ASSISTANT TECHNICAL DIRECTOR: Assists the Technical Director in the planning and execution of the construction of a show's set, and helps supervise shop crews during the build. Should be familiar with basic carpentry and stagecraft, a competent draftsman, and capable of leading others and organizing schedules and materials. Knowledge of rigging, painting, welding, or CAD drafting a plus, but not imperative.

MASTER CARPENTERS: The Master Carpenter is responsible for the engineering and construction of all scenic pieces to ensure quality, structural integrity and safety based on the working drawings provided by the Technical Director or Set Designer. The Master Carpenter orders lumber, schedules the build, prioritizes the build task list to ensure on-time completion, maintains accurate account of lumber inventory, stock inventory (i.e. flats, platforms, and step units) and depletion of same. The MC supervises the construction crew to ensure a safe, clean, and friendly working environment using industry accepted methods and procedures. In coordination with the TD, accomplishes both load-in and strike of the show from the theater space. During the run of the shows, the MC completes repair notes as given by the stage manager.

The ideal candidate must have strong carpentry, metal working and rigging skills, as well as good project management, communication, and record-keeping skills. Must be proficient in all wood working tools and techniques. Welding/metal working, plastics, foam and rigging skills are highly desirable. The candidate should have experience in a supervisory position with strong organizational and leadership skills. Candidates should be self-motivated, innovative, and enjoy working in a creative environment. Candidates should possess the ability to work with a wide variety people and be able to adapt to an ever changing environment.

CARPENTERS: Help to build and install a show's set. Experience appreciated, but not required.

PAINTERS: Paint the set and theater for a show. Both simple single color painting and also larger, more artistic projects. Some experience is good, but not a must.

RUN CREW: Team that handles the running of the technical aspects of a show. Various positions are needed for different shows. Sound and Light operators, stage hands to move scenery, costume and prop crews to assist backstage. No experience needed.
